Well-meaning Friends...
Well-meaning friends always seem to think our ‘deserts’ are our own fault and often they may be right, yet I believe that sometimes God does withdraw the feeling of His closeness when He wants to help our faith grow larger. Faith, like a mushroom, appears to grow best in the dark! Something my mother once said, frequently comes to my rescue and I have passed it on to many other desert travellers: ‘Jesus promised us that His presence would always be with us, but He never promised that we would always feel it.’
Fortunately these deserts do not last for ever, and often they can be the prelude to something new and exciting!
