A SOUND MIND

“WHAT IS A SOUND MIND?”

In 2 Tim. 1:6-7 Paul mentions three key elements required to overcome fear: love, power and a SOUND MIND. Timothy was prone to timidity (fear) and lack of confidence. 1 Cor. 16:10: “And if Timothy comes, see that he may be with you – without fear; for he does the work of the Lord as I also do.” The Greek word for fear is deilia. The word implies timidity and cowardice. The origin of intimidation is fear, which originates from the devil (Gen. 3:10). He attacks us by way of thoughts, imaginations and visions. He will use fear to paralyze us and unleash confusion, discouragement and frustration. A spirit of fear will want to overwhelm you with a sense of inferiority and timidity. SOUND MIND (Greek sophronismos). The word denotes good judgment, disciplined thought patterns, and the ability to understand and make right decisions. It includes the qualities of self-control and self-discipline.

THE SPIRIT OF A SOUND MIND KNOWS WHAT GOD IS SAYING

Hasty decisions in the heat of the moment are usually wrong and costly. Do not allow yourself to get upset by the negative attitudes and remarks of other people. Keep your mind filled with positive thoughts. What is a SOUND MIND? Soundness of mind comes by knowing the mind of Christ. Often we face situations that would paralyze us, rendering us unable to complete what God has set before us if we do not have the mind of Christ. The person who has the mind of Christ, cannot be judged or intimidated. A SOUND MIND is based on a continual living relationship with Jesus Christ. Rom. 8:6 “For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.” Rom. 12:2 “By being transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Eph. 4:23 “And be renewed in the spirit of your mind.” The Greek word for power is exousia. It means the authority of right to act. The spirit of intimidation attacks our soul, but our weapon against intimidation is the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God (Eph. 6:17). Believe His Word: Heb. 13:6 “So we may boldly say the Lord is my helper. I will not fear. What can man do to me?” Rom. 8:15 “For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the SPIRIT OF ADOPTION, by whom we cry ABBA FATHER.” Pastor Bill Marks +2718 2931608 or +2782 260 5965 [Sponsored by TG Trade]
