HE WAS A LOSER AT LAST
A successful farmer, whose flocks and herds increased, was used to say to people who spoke to him about eternal things, “I must make my fortune first, then I shall attend to these matters.”
One day he suddenly became ill while at the market. He was hurriedly taken home to be laid on his bed from which he never rose. To the person who sat by his side during the last hours of his life - one who had often spoken to him about eternal things - he said in tones of bitter remorse, “I am a loser at last. I have gained the whole world, but has lost my soul.” - Gospel Herald.
“What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul?” (Matthew 16:26a NIV).
“Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord. Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool” (Isaiah 1:18 NIV).
