The tremors were Algeria’s worst in twenty years. The quake measured 6,7 on the Richter scale. In 1994 about 150 000 people were left homeless by an earthquake in North-Western Algeria that killed more than 170 people. Matthew 24:7 “And there will be famines, pestilences and earthquakes in various places.” THE INCREASE IN EARTHQUAKES On 1 September 1975 Time Magazine had a cover called “Earthquake”. Depicted on the front cover was the earth split in two. At the beginning of this century there was on average one major earthquake every two or three years. Now we have anything up to a hundred major earthquakes every year! THE ULTIMATE EARTHQUAKE Revelation 16:18 “And there were noises and thunderings and lightnings, and there was a great earthquake, such a mighty and great earthquake as had not occurred since men were on earth.” This major earthquake, as every destructive earthquake, is a warning to the world in general. It is the big one, the final one. Seismologists have predicted it and the Word of God has prophesied it in Isaiah 13:6-9. Isaiah 13 also speaks about the day of the Lord, the end times. The day of the Lord begins with the Great Tribulation. WHAT HOPE IS THERE? The deliverance is through the Person of Jesus the Messiah. The hope of salvation is not some vague hope that somehow we might be saved, it is a very definite assurance that God will save us from the Great Tribulation. Salvation is a free gift (Ephesians 2:8). To receive this free gift, pray this prayer out loud: Heavenly Father, I come to You in the Name of Jesus I know that I am a sinner, and that I cannot save myself. Thank You, Father, for sending Your Son, JESUS. Thank You, Jesus, that You died in my place on the cross of Calvary. Thank You that You accepted the punishment for my sins. Jesus, please come into my heart, and save my life. Cleanse me from all unrighteousness. Thank You for saving me. You are now Lord of my life. I know I am born again.
