RISE ABOVE TROUBLES

One of our common mistakes is that we live with our troubles. We live with them, instead of above them. We allow them to get inside us, control us, toss us around, and churn up our emotions. In short - our troubles overtake us. This is ruinous!
When things go wrong, we ought not go wrong with them. That’s the time to go right. David knew what to do: “I sought the LORD, and He answered me; He delivered me from all my fears”(Ps. 34:4 NIV). His fears were there, but so was his faith!
To retain composure and control we each need to say to ourselves: “Things around me has changed, but I have not changed. Nothing in me has changed. I am still the person I was before. I will not let adversity tear me apart and turn me into a different person. Things may be shaking all around me, but I know the promise God made to His trusting child: ‘Nothing shall shake him... Bad news shall have no terrors for him, because his heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord’ (Ps. 112:6-7 NEB).”
Troubles can bless or burn. They bring a blessing when they inspire the spirit’s flight upward. They burn and blister when they are pent up within. Here’s a good resolve: I will not let troubles diminish my faith, shatter my peace and destroy my composure. I will put the full weight of trust on God’s trustworthy pro-mise: “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee” (Isaiah 26:3 KJV).
