Pastor Bill Marks, Christian Fellowship, Potchefstroom, Tel: (018) 293 1608 or 079 311 6515 If you were going on an expedition to climb Mount Everest and reached the height of 8 000 m, you would have to wear an oxygen tank and mask, for without supplementary oxygen you would not be able to think clearly when you need to make quick and accurate decisions because of low temperatures and steep slopes. The air at very high altitudes smells completely different to the air of lower altitudes. People become addicted to this smell and they need more and more of this air to make them go HIGHER AND HIGHER up the mountain. Roderick Mackenzie said: "People climb Mount Everest for the smell of it!" The Holy Spirit may also be compared to the “Breath of God”. As Christians, we should become addicted to His “smell” - His holy and life-giving Presence, as we pro-gress higher and higher in our walk with God. Genesis 1:2 - The Holy Spirit was hovering: meaning He was sweeping or moving over the earth. The Holy Spirit gave life to what did not exist, and was there at creation. In Genesis 2:7 God breathed into man’s nostrils the breath of life (NISMAT CHAYIM), and man became a living being, but when Adam and Eve disobeyed God they were cut off from the heavenly realm. However, when we confessed our sins and accepted Jesus Christ as our Saviour, the Holy Spirit regenerated our spirits. He is the One who brought back to us the Breath of Life as citizens of the Kingdom of God. The Holy Spirit is our personal Tutor, for He teaches us the truth about who we are in Christ (John 14:16, 26). He also teaches us how to stand in authority as true sons of God (Luke 16:16). No matter what trouble or difficulty comes your way, remember that you are a ROYAL CITIZEN of the KING! Through the power of the Holy Spirit residing in you, you are able to overcome and live a life of POWER AND VICTORY! Sponsored by TG TRADERS |
