A NEW BEGINNING | |

Pastor Bill Marks, Christian Fellowship, Potchefstroom, (018) 293 1608 or 079 311 6515 Gayton Mackenzie, who is the author of the book "The Choice", said that the most significant thing before being released from prison was the encounter with a man in his late sixties. He was serving a life sentence and said to Gayton, "I have been here a long while and lived for making money, but when you get to my age, you start thinking, 'What did I do with my life?'" Later when Gayton was released from prison, he thought of the old man who had made such a difference in his life, and decided to make A NEW BEGINNING. It was a new beginning for Israel when Samuel anointed David, who had a heart after God, as king. 1 Samuel 16:10 - "Seven sons passed before Samuel." 11: "Samuel says to Jesse, 'Send for David who is attending the sheep'." 12: "When they brought David to him, the Lord said to Samuel, 'Arise, anoint him.'" 13: "Then Samuel anointed David and 'The Spirit of the Lord' came upon him." David was sent by his father to take some food supplies to his brothers. 1 Sam. 17:28 - "Eliab, his oldest brother, said to him, 'Why have you come down? And with whom have you left those few sheep in the wilderness? I know your presumption, and the evil of your heart; for you have come down to see the battle.'" You see, there was a great deal of misunderstanding and lack of communication between Eliab and David, and therefore they did not have a good relationship. Eliab needed to make A NEW BEGINNING, repent, and acknowledge David for the person he was. The Ten Commandments of successful relationships with God and others should be: 1. Communicate 2. Communicate 3. Communicate 4. Communicate 5. Repent. Matthew 6:12 - "Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors." 6. Communicate 7. Communicate 8. Communicate 9. Communicate 10. Repent. Do not allow, through lack of love, bitterness, anger, fear, jealousy or competition, that your relationships be destroyed. Make a stand and do not allow yourself to become a victim, but a victor. Israel was living in a time where they were under the merciless onslaught of the Philistines. 1 Samuel 17:45 - "I come to you in the name of the Lord of Hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied." David spoke to the Philistine with authority, because the Spirit of God was upon him. We as believers have been assigned as representatives of the Lord Jesus Christ to make A NEW BEGINNING and exercise authority until He returns. Luke 9:1 - "Jesus called His twelve disciples together and gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases." 1 Samuel 17:49 - "Then David put his hand in his bag and took out a stone and he slung it and struck the Philistine in his forehead." It was no lucky shot for David, because he had spent time practising with his slingshot. Remember you need a regular intake of God's Word. In John 8:31 Jesus said, "If you abide in My word…" ABIDE means to live by the Word's principles each day. I believe that during 2008, God is going to raise up and anoint men and women to become kings and queens who will shepherd His people, for they will make a difference in society. John 10:11 - "Jesus said, 'I am the Good Shepherd. The Good Shepherd gives his life for the sheep.'" By faith declare that you are going to experience A NEW BEGINNING, for a new beginning starts within your spirit by the working of the Holy Spirit. Sponsored by TG TRADERS |
