WHO AM I?

I was never guilty of any wrong action myself. But on my account lives have been lost, trains have been wrecked, ships have gone down at sea, cities have burned, battles have been lost, and governments have failed. I never struck a blow or spoke an unkind word, but because of me homes have been broken up, friends have grown cold, the laughter of children has ceased, wives have shed bitter tears, brothers and sisters have been forgotten, and fathers and mothers have gone broken-hearted to their graves. I have never intended evil, yet through me, talent and genius have come to nought, courtesy and kindness have failed, and the promise of success and happiness has yielded sorrow and disaster. I have no colour except darkness, no sound but silence, no cause for being, no progeny except grief and disaster. You may not instantly know my name, but you are surely personally acquainted with me. My name is NEGLECT!!! In addition to all the above, I confess that I may, even now, be causing you to refrain from activity in the most important thing in your life - the salvation of your precious soul! The Lord Jesus Christ has finished the work necessary for your salvation on Calvary's Cross. The judgment due to you was poured out upon Him. His precious blood was shed for the remission of your sins. He has been raised from among the dead and is now seated on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the Heavens. You may have heard the Gospel message over and over again. Even now the Saviour's invitation: "Come unto Me…" is ringing in your ears. You do not intend to be eternally lost, and certainly expect to be saved some day. But I am holding you back. I am preventing you from definitely deciding to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour. If I continue to do so until the Messenger of Death calls, it will be forever too late for you to be saved - you will perish! It remains to be seen whether or not you are going to break the hold which I have upon you. After hearing my honest confession, and listening to my faithful warning, are you going to remain negligent? There is only one way by which I may be overcome; that is by immediate, definite action. The power and opportunity are yours.
