YOUNG WOMAN SAVED FROM SUICIDE

By God's grace, Gospel for Asia (GFA) Radio airs broadcasts daily across the Indian subcontinent. Driven to despair and on the brink of committing suicide, Ajuli was stopped just in time by hearing a GFA broadcast that pointed her to the hope she needed. Following is her incredible story as she wrote it to the GFA radio broadcaster in her region: Dear Radio Uncle, My name is Ajuli and I am studying in the 12th grade. My family consists of my mother, older sister and a younger brother. We have been listening to your radio programme for the last eight years. Your programme has helped me become a good believer in Christ. Five years ago, we were living in the city and had all the good facilities a rich family could afford. But then we faced a terrible financial crisis, due to which we lost all our property. Since we could not afford to live in the city anymore, we had to come and settle down in our ancestral village. While we were adjusting to all the changes and trying to get on with our lives, my father passed away. After this sad incident our lives became very difficult. Though we had many friends, relatives and family around us, they were not even the least bothered about our critical condition. The meagre amount we received from my father's pension was not sufficient for our survival. Sometimes there was not even enough food to eat in our house. Another problem that caused untold pain in our hearts was my elder sister's family life. She had been married seven years ago, but her family life was not at all happy. Her husband was a hard man who beat her every day. One day he sent her back to us and told us he was thinking of divorcing her and marrying another. I earnestly prayed for my sister and her husband, and asked some godly people to do the same. As if we didn't have enough problems, our debts kept on increasing. We just could not manage to repay them, and this worried us. My brother, being a small boy, could not help our family in any way possible. Not knowing what to do, I just decided to end my life. I attempted suicide many times, but somehow at the last moment I could not bring myself to perform this horrible deed. In deep despair, one day I tuned my radio to your programme. As I began to listen to the broadcast, I felt the Lord speaking to me personally, reminding me that there is a solution for every problem in Jesus Christ, and that true peace comes only to those who fully trust in Him. As the radio broadcaster prayed, I joined him in prayer and asked the Lord Jesus to forgive my sins and make me whole. That very moment, I was filled with the peace of God. From then on my heart was constantly filled with joy and happiness, knowing that Jesus has saved me from my sins. I also received hope and assurance from knowing that the Lord would surely take care of my family also. I am so thankful to you for broadcasting this radio programme through which my life has been changed. Please pray for my family. Thank you.
