THE STAR OF CHRISTMAS | |
  |
![]() “And lo the Star, which they saw in the East, went before them, till it came and stood over where the Young Child was" (Mt. 2:9). When we look up into the heaven at night, we see lots of stars winking back at us. Some are large and others are smaller. Many of them are known to us by certain names. There are the Seven Kings, the well-known Evening Star and the brighter Morning Star appearing in the sky just before daybreak. Many years ago, on the first Christmas eve, there appeared an extraordinary star in the heavens that drew the attention of the Wise Men of the East. They felt that this star had a special message for them. While they were gazing at the star, they saw that it moved before them, and they decided to follow it. At last the star stopped above Bethlehem, the place where the Lord Jesus was born. Then they saw what secret the star had to reveal to them. It told them that Jesus, the Saviour, was born! The Wise Men searched in Bethlehem for the new-born Babe, and when they had found Him they were very glad. They fell down before Him and worshipped Him. Then they opened their bundles and laid their presents at His feet. The star had led them to Jesus and they were very happy. Today there are also "stars" that lead us to Jesus, and if we follow them faithfully, they will bring us to the Lord Who will save us and make us happy too. One of these beautiful "stars" is a GOD-FEARING MOTHER. There is nobody in this world more concerned about the welfare of her child than a mother. She always longs that her child should have the very best. And if we follow her guidance and advice, she will point us to Jesus and introduce us to Him as our Lord and Saviour. Another "star" that we should follow is THE BIBLE. If we read carefully and regularly through its pages, we will soon come across the Saviour offering us salvation and life eternal. There are, of course, many other such "stars" that we may mention, as for instance, the Church, the Sunday School, our Minister and many others. If, like the Wise Men, you choose to be led by them, you will eventually reach heaven, where you will thank the Lord Jesus Christ for providing these wonderful "stars" that have led you to Him. - Selected |
