Pastor Bill Marks, Christian Fellowship, Potchefstroom, (018) 293 1608 or 079 311 6515 Sometimes we say that "the wheels are coming off" when things are not going well with us or our business. The other day I was watching a DVD and saw how scientists went to Pi Hahiroth, which is the crossing site where the Israelites crossed the Red Sea. They conducted an investigation with high robotic cameras and discovered remnant wheels of chariots covered in coral. Exodus 14:24, 25 states that the Lord looked down upon the army of Egyptians and took off their chariot wheels, so that they drove them with difficulty. In Psalm 78 we read that the northern kingdom had violated God's covenant by not remembering His saving acts. In Psalm 78:13 we see that He divided the sea. He made a way for the Israelites and caused them to pass through. Verse 53 tells us that the sea overwhelmed their enemies. Psalm 78:15 - He split the rocks in the wilderness and gave them water in abundance. Exodus 17:6 records that Moses stood by the rock at Horeb, struck the rock, and water came out of it for the people to drink. Just the other day a friend of mine was telling me that he had a farm just outside Potchefstroom and one day the windmill stopped pumping water. He had to drive back and forth three times a day with his bakkie to give the animals water. After a few days he realized that he could not keep it up and called unto the Lord. A soft breeze began to blow and slowly the windmill started turning and then the sound of water came rushing into the dam. In 1 Corinthians 10:4 (Amplified) we read that they all drank the same spiritual (supernaturally- given) drink, for they drank from the spiritual rock which followed them. (Produced by the sole power of God Himself without natural instrumentality and the Rock was Jesus Christ.) A lady wrote to Pastor David Wilkerson at Times Square Church in New York City: "We have both worked hard all of our lives, we've been able to save some money and also built up a small retirement fund." However, she struggled with fear every time she thought about their mortgage (home loan) and car payments. I believe that this lady was voicing what others are going through, a struggle to keep fear out of their hearts. Remember that fear kills more souls than any other physical force. In Psalm 78:23, 24 we read that He commanded the clouds above and opened the doors of heaven and gave them of the bread of heaven. All ate the same mira-culous food, for God is a miracle-working God. In Malachi 3:8-10 we see that Israel had neglected her covenant relationship with God. There is a general agreement that the New Testament teaches us to give substantially to the Lord, for God delights to respond with gracious provision. The same God who delivered Israel from the Egyptians when they put the blood of a lamb on the doorposts, is the same God who made covenant with us by paying the price on the cross through the blood of Jesus. That is why He is the WAY, the TRUTH, and the LIFE. No one comes to the Father except by HIM. John 14:6 teaches that we have a good reason to look beyond troubled times. I want to encourage you to take communion (either by yourself or with your family) and ask for forgiveness for allowing fear into your life. Then make your requests known to the Lord. Please read 1 Corinthians 10:13. Do not fear - God will provide for you! GOD WILL COME THROUGH FOR YOU IN THE NICK OF TIME! |
