CHILE: BIBLE STUDY AT 700 METRES UNDERGROUND Recently, the 33 trapped miners in the San José mine in Copiapo, Chile, who became world news, celebrated the day of their rescue. On 5 August 2010 a partial collapse blocked the mine, leaving the miners trapped in a room-sized chamber for more than two months. Chilean engineer Igor Bravo owns the geo-technical monitoring com-pany that helped the rescue efforts on the desert surface 700 metres above the miners. Bravo quickly realized that though the miners' physical needs were being met, their spiritual needs had been overlooked. "I had to help in some way," he said. "It was an opportunity to share the Gospel." He called his pastor, Luis Cortéz, for help, who arranged audio players with sermons and Bible studies in Spanish along with Christian music. In the nearest town to the mine Bravo found 33 New Testaments and two Bibles that met the size restrictions for what could be sent down the chamber. On 17 September he sent the materials to the miners via the 'paloma', a device used to transport objects between the miners and the surface. Three of the 33 trapped miners were evangelical Chris-tians. One of them, José Henríquez, has been leading Bible studies each evening. As a fruit of that, two other miners made professions of faith. Bravo also arranged pastoral care for the families waiting at Camp Esperanza. After reaching the surface, several miners knelt to pray and thank God for their rescue. ARMENIA: STORM STOPPED, TUMOURS VANISHED British evangelist David Hath-away recently held a campaign in Armenia that, according to reports from his organization, Prophetic Vision, drew up to 12 000 people from across the nation. After he called people to repent on the opening night, and before the prayer for the sick, a tremendous black 'tornado' ripped through the town, with thunder and lightning, and hail the size of golf balls drumming furiously on the roof and beating on the cars in the street outside. When Hathaway publicly commanded the storm - in the Name of Jesus - to stop, it vanished right away. Following this, many people were healed. A man with five tumours on his head, a woman with a tumour on her face, and a boy with a tumour on his back were instantly healed!
