The New Bible Translation of the Dutch Bible Society has been elected by the public as 'the most important book of the Netherlands'. The election was part of the Year of the Book 2016, a national campaign to motivate people to read more. The New Bible Translation was released in 2004 and sold over 1.5 million copies. Not just believers appreciate the Bible, but also many literature and art lovers. In the second place was 'The Diary of Anne Frank' and Tolkien's 'The Lord of the Rings' came third.
