Our relationship with God is strengthened and our devotion and worship of Him grows deeper as we spend time praying and studying the Bible. We need the Word of God and prayer to become part of who we are, part of our "spiritual DNA" so that they influence and direct all aspects of our lives. Remember that prayer is dynamic, not static. It is active and engaging, as well as quiet and reflective. Make a commitment today to invest time talking with God and learning about Him and His ways through His Word. This is a vital key to Spirit-filled, Spirit-formed, energized devotion. The focus of the believer's devotion and hope, is JESUS, our coming Lord. Our devotion and worship of Him encompass not only what He has done for us in the past and is doing in our lives in the present, but also what awaits us in eternity when He comes to usher in His Kingdom in its fullness. Let the hope of His coming strengthen and comfort you as you devote yourself to the Lord Jesus Christ! Jesus warned us that in this world we would experience persecution, but in the midst of suffering and persecution, it is imperative that our devotion to Jesus is strong, growing in faith, and securely rooted in the love of God our Father. Seek to know God. Pursue an ever-deepening relationship with Jesus, so that when you face opposition and persecution, you will be able to stand firm. Godly living, especially in the face of intense persecution requires great endurance. At all times, but especially when suffering, believers are to help encourage and strengthen each other. It is vital that believers grow in maturity through both the knowledge and application of Scripture. The walk of faith is a glorious process of becoming increasingly free in Christ. By faith in Jesus' resurrection, we become free from the fear of death. Through faith in Jesus as our High Priest, we know that we have One who understands our temptations and can help us to become free from sin. By faith in Jesus' holiness in our lives, we can be free to boldly enter into God's Presence without hesitation. Continue to put your faith in Jesus daily. Know that you can entirely trust Him Who is the same yesterday, today and forever! - Excerpts from the New Spirit Filled Bible, Thomas Nelson, Inc.,2002. |
